The Only Girl in the World is a memoir written by Maude Julien. The story describes how a mentally and physically abused girl escapes from the cruelty of her stepfather. Based on the heavy atmosphere of the story, we chose black as the base color. The use of black and white represents a dark and old memory. The cover is half torn, the partial back view of the girl represents her broken life. The exposed inside page is just pure grey, representing the emptiness she feels.
